Hi Mariam. I am a School and Family Counselor at ParentCircle. If your child has already been diagnosed by a qualified and experienced Special Educator or clinical psychologist the next step is to find a special educator to work with your child on a regular basis. This is not the same as tuition. Though some people may advise you to send your child for tuition, please do not follow this. Instead, a special educator is trained to work with dysgraphia which is a fairly common type of learning difficulty.

Ideally, the special educator or remedial teacher must also support the child's teachers in setting achievable goals with regard to writing and also support the parents so they can sustain the same goals set out for the child in school. But a lot depends on the school your child is in. Talk to her teacher and try to find out if the school is supportive of such children. It would also be very helpful if you learn from the special educator some strategies you can use to support your child when you help her with her studies.

We welcome other parents to share their tips with Mariam.
