Last Sunday, I was feeling heavy after a family feast. My stomach was rumbling, and I couldn’t sit comfortably.
Seeing me restless, Grandma smiled knowingly and went straight to the kitchen.
She roasted a spoon of ajwain seeds, boiled them in water, and handed me a warm cup.
“Sip this slowly, beta,” she said. “This is how I fixed your papa’s tummy when he was your age.”
Within half an hour, the bloating was gone, and I felt light again.
Even today, whenever anyone in the house complains of indigestion, Grandma’s ajwain water comes to the rescue!

Even today, I still follow a simple health tip my grandmother passed down to me — one involving a humble plant called Nochi.
As a child, I used to watch her gather fresh Nochi leaves from the backyard. On days when I had a cold or a blocked nose, she would boil those leaves in a pot of water. The sharp, herbal aroma would fill the kitchen as she carefully transferred the steaming pot to the floor, making me sit with a towel over my head. "Breathe deeply," she'd say with a knowing smile. "This will chase the cold right out of your head."
And she was right. The steam from the boiled Nochi leaves always helped clear the heaviness in my head, soothing my congestion and helping me breathe easier.
Now, years later, even with shelves full of modern medicines and remedies, I still turn to my grandmother’s Nochi steam. It’s more than just a health tip — it’s a warm memory, a tradition, and a piece of her wisdom that continues to take care of me.

My Grandma's timeless nutrition secrets that still works wonders in our home is Golden Milk (Tumeric milk)
Every time someone in the family feels a sore throat coming on or complains of body aches, Grandma’s golden milk makes an appearance. She always made it with a pinch of turmeric, black pepper, and a drop of ghee — gently simmered in milk. “This keeps your insides strong,” she would say with a knowing smile.
It’s incredible how this simple remedy continues to boost our immunity and help us sleep better, especially during seasonal changes.
Now, I’ve started sharing this with my kids — calling it “magic milk” to make it more fun.
Grandma’s wisdom truly never goes out of style. 💛💛 💛
