Raising Boys 2026: Comparisons Hurt. Celebrations Heal.

When we constantly compare boys and girls, it breeds rivalry instead of partnerships. Comparisons may make boys hide their emotions, and girls may feel undervalued in areas where they excel.

By shifting the focus from competition to celebration of their unique strengths, we can help boys and girls grow with respect, confidence, and collective strength.

A parent shares “This week, I noticed how imaginative my son is. He built a whole story around his toy cars. His creativity made me smile.”

Share your child’s strength using #CelebrateDontCompare and help us shift the focus from comparison to appreciation.

As a mom of two energetic boys, I’ve noticed how easy it is to fall into comparing them with girls — especially around behavior or emotions. I’m learning that each child develops differently and that celebrating what each child brings to the world builds more confidence than saying “boys are like this, girls are like that.” I’m working on saying things like, “I love how thoughtfully you handled that moment,” instead of comparing how a girl might react. It’s helping my boys feel valued for who they are.

Here are some simple language shifts that help boys grow into confident, emotionally healthy individuals by replacing comparison and stereotypes with empathy, encouragement, and trust.

Share one phrase or sentence that you'll stop saying to your boys and the positive swap you’ll try instead.

Let’s learn from each other. 💙
