Diet is often referred to as some dietary regimen for losing weight. However, diet simply means what food we eat in the course of a 24-hour, one week, or one month, etc. period.
A good diet is a nutritional lifestyle that promotes good health. A good diet must include several food groups because one single group cannot provide everything a human needs for good health.
Fruit and vegetables have a high vitamin, mineral and fiber content - these nutrients are vital for your body to function well.
Several studies have proven that a good intake of fruit and vegetables may protect from developing heart disease, diabetes type 2,cancer .
We should aim for an energy balance and a healthy bodyweigh .
We should limit our energy consumption from total fats. We should also aim for more unsaturated fats and less saturated fats.
We should up our consumption of fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains and nuts.
We should consume as little simple sugars are possible.
As well as making sure our salt is iodized, we should also limit our consumption of salt/sodium.

After our workout ,we prefer eating a fruit ( seasonal fruit) in moderate quantaties. Mostly our breakfast (8.30 am) would be one of these ,idli with chutney ( 3 idilis), dosai ( 2) or wheat khichidi with two vegetables ( 2 katori)
After 2 hours one fistful of nuts ( Almond or pecans) is must with a glassful of freshly made juice, millet porridge or buttermilk. If nuts are not in store we would go for peanut chikki ( 2 pieces).
Five days a week chappati (2) with little curd rice is our regular lunch with vegetable subzi or green sprouts or dal with any greens or chicken gravy accompanied with raita. Evening a cup of green tea and healthy homemade bakes ( cakes, cookie's made with atta or millets). Simple early dinner like idilis or dosai with sambhar is our regular menu.
Apart from our healthy eating habits, we listen to good music, read anything from snippets to fiction and mingle up with our community and friends and healthy discussion of current affairs between us do take place. My son stays in US follow these routine which he inculcated from his childhood.
Our Body is Temple, gift from God ...so nourish with healthy food ,water ( atleast 3 litres a day) and simple regular exercise. Everything should be followed with love not by compulsion. We as a family love and follow these healthy regular routine....

Health is lost, everything is lost!
Our whole life and it's essence lies in this simple potion called "health" and the sooner we realise it the better. My family has made it our topmost priority to follow healthy practices, be it food or lifestyle. A physically active lifestyle where kids engage in outdoor games , adults too indulge in exercises like aerobic or yoga is strictly adhered to. We have stopped all kinds of processed food and simply stick to home cooked simple recipes made traditionally. The sleep time at home is non negotiable and every one clocks a healthy sleep routine of atleast 7 to 8 hours. Kids are now totally aware of healthy habits and we as parents take up every effort to put up a motivating picture like participating in marathons, going for treks and eating organic healthy food. A healthy family makes a healthy world.Cleaniness of surroundings is another aspect we lay stress on and follow .
Awareness about a healthy lifestyle practices must start at home then only the citizens of tomorrow can pave way for a healthy society!

I would like to share my healthy routine to be fit and fine. Our mornings start at 530am. My kid gets up at 6am. For breakfast he eats oats or eggs and milk, cornflakes with milk and rava ka Kheer. I alternate it as he needs variety in breakfast. Milk and water very necessary for the body. Me and my husband have coffee and upma or poha or thalipeet (a dish made with multi grain flour). For lunch we have chapati, rice, Dal, vegetables and chicken, fish On different days so our diet is balanced oh not to forget, curds, salads and sprouts. Dinners are lighter.
It's mandatory for my son to eat all the vegetables and food what is served in his plate. As we also eat the same and don't fuss in front of him. Regular play for my kid is a must.
As we were young we did not follow any diet plan as such but in today's hectic schedule one should follow it to lead a happy and healthy life. Thanks

My husband has been working in8 telecom field since last 15 years, and hence remains occupied on his phone and laptop most of the time. I was working on my PhD thesis and we had a lovely daughter, she was 4 years old, when we started doing meditation regularly.
We husband and wife were so much busy in our respective fields and hence soon started facing so many physical problems like back ache, weakness of body muscles, blurred vision, etc with other problems like clouding of mind, confusion, frequent headaches.
Though we had read many articles about meditation in magazines, newspapers etc, but never gave a serious thought to follow it regularly.
We were fortunate enough, to have attended a meditation for the beginners session held in our society. There the trainer gave a very simple and effective account of how to incorporate meditation in our daily lives. That was really helpful session and we decided to give it a try. All the three of us started to follow the instructions of the trainer and also brought a guided meditation CD to help ourselves.
Within few weeks of regular practice, we all found ourselves feeling much lighter, our anxiety had decreased to a great extent, breathing rate improved, we felt much more energized throughout the day.
Our little girl was also enjoying the daily meditation sessions with us and I had noticed that her panicking behaviour had also improved. She had started becoming more confident and to our great surprise she was also trying her hands in teaching meditation to her school friends.
I myself experienced that my body muscles started becoming much more relaxed after regular meditation routine. I could understand that power of mind, and how mind controls the whole body. 'Everything is in mind' is such a true saying. Meditation helps us to strengthen the power of our minds. Our decision making abilities also improves greatly.
It had been four years now, and we never miss a day without doing meditation. It's our healthy habit that we all are following religiously. We are really grateful to our ancestral sages and spiritual masters who introduced the process of meditation and yoga in our culture.
