How to make children enjoy studies?

All children like to learn and do well, be it studies or other activities. Children learn well when subjects are presented in interesting ways. Parents can connect the subject with interesting real-life experiences, conduct simple experiments at home, make up little games or stories etc. These can make studies more enjoyable.

Have the right expectations of your child. Understand and accept his strengths and limitations. This way you will encourage him to do the best that he is capable of. Over-expectations put much pressure on the child, giving rise to self-doubt. The child fears that he will disappoint his parents, could lose confidence, believe he can never be good enough and give up easily.

A strong parent-child relationship built on love, acceptance and trust are key factors that promote a child’s ability to learn. Therefore, make sure you connect with your child everyday in fun and enjoyable ways such as playing together, sharing stories, learning a new skill together, doing household chores cheerfully, helping him tide over difficult but normal emotions such as disappointment, sadness, anger, frustration. He will gradually learn to manage his emotions so that they do not interfere with concentration, focus and effort in studies.
