MATERIALS NEEDED

  • Plastic Easter egg
  • Acrylic paint (assorted colors)
  • Paintbrushes (sizes 0, 5 and 7)
  • Pallet (optional)
  • Pencil
  • Water
  • Cloth

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1: Prepare your workspace

Lay down some newspapers or a plastic sheet to protect your work surface from any paint spills. Keep a cloth nearby to wipe your hands or any spills.

Step 2: Clean your Easter egg

Before you start painting, make sure your plastic Easter egg is clean and dry. You can use a damp cloth to wipe it down and let it air dry.

Step 3: Set up your paints

Squeeze a small amount of each color of paint onto your pallet (if using) or onto a clean surface. Make sure you have enough paint to cover the areas you want to paint on your egg.

Note: When painting the Easter egg, it can be difficult to hold it by hand, as it may slip or roll around. To make it easier, you can use a bottle cap or a small cup as a stand to keep the egg steady while you paint. This will also prevent the paint from smudging or getting on your hands.

Step 4: Draw your design

Using a pencil, draw your design onto the plastic Easter egg. You can draw any design you like—from simple polka dots to intricate patterns.

If you prefer, you can apply a background color to the egg and then draw the design on top of it. For the background color, use your largest paintbrush (size 7). Be sure to cover all areas evenly and let it dry completely.

Step 5: Paint the design

Using your smallest paintbrush (size 0), paint over the pencil lines with your desired colors. Take your time and try not to go outside the lines. If you make a mistake, you can use a damp cloth to wipe it off before it dries.

Step 6: Add details

Once the base colors have dried, use your medium-sized paintbrush (size 5) to add details or texture to your design. You can also use this brush to blend colors together.

Step 7: Let it dry

Once you have finished painting your Easter egg, let it dry completely. This may take a few hours, depending on how thickly you applied the paint.

Meanwhile, you can clean your paintbrushes with water and dry them with a cloth. Wipe down your work surface with a damp cloth to remove any paint spills.

Step 8: Display your Easter egg

Once the paint is dry, display your beautiful Easter egg for everyone to admire. You can also use it as a decoration for an Easter egg hunt!
