MORE ABOUT MAGICAL MILLETS

"To keep the dullness away, millets need to be used in an authentic way!"

Magical millets need to be eaten one at a time on their own. To keep your digestive system healthy, don't mix different millets together. Mixing the millets will not be that beneficial and could be heavy to digest.

Knowing isn't enough! We all know the nutritional value of millets but, poor cooking skills come in the way of good health. And we end up eating readymade Nachni chips, takos, multigrain breads, etc. which doesn't provide all of the nutrients. Experimenting with food and nutrition inside the kitchen is really important. So we need to cook and celebrate these versatile millets in a healthy way.

Now talking about the availability of these miraculous millets...we can eat Jowar all year round but this is especially useful in the summers. Ragi is a 'super cereal' full of nutritive and therapeutic value, and a very adaptive crop, hence available all year round. We can also eat Nachni all year round, Bajra and Makai are useful for winters. And we can have Rajgira, Kodo, Kuttu while fasting.

Remember to bring back the magical millets in an authentic way and not like pearl millet salad, cake, etc. It won't work like that. Make a millet bhakri or laddoo, porridge, dosa or pakodas instead. Adding ghee to enhance its taste is a wise thing to do. Happy cooking!

Thank you :)
