We must taken care of our mental health as much as our physical health. Laughter is the best medicine. So include humour and fun activities into your life as much as possible.

Here are few things that I have learnt from elders, and read over the years that definitely help:
Spend a lot of time with children and people who are young at heart
Be helpful to others as much as possible. It gives a lot of satisfaction and happiness
Play sports and games
Visit holy places and pray often
Sleep early and wake up early
Spend time alone also and meditate for few minutes every morning
Walking, yoga, and simple exercises can keep you fit physically and mentally
Do pranayama and practice to breathe slow and steady throughout the day
Develop hobbies and try new things
Give importance to cultural activities, music, arts, and dance. Such activities are not only entertaining but also have therapeutical value.
Read a lot
Stay away from negativity and negative people
If you are not a people person, try having a pet
Stay in touch with family members, friends, and people you are close to
Have good role models and keep learning something from them everyday
Spend time outdoors for few minutes everyday
Volunteer at schools and different events
Do community service when possible
Help the needy when possible
Do gardening
Teach something to others
Learn something new whenever you get a chance
Spend time outdoors in the sun for few minutes everyday
Take a break from hectic work and regular routine and travel when possible
Be creative
Try different cuisines
Learn about different cultures
Find ways to deal with problems that may crop up with patience. Panicking about different stuff will only make matters worse
Reduce clutter
Manage your time and energy in an efficient way
Maintain a journal
Write down /note down your expenses
Organize your home, office table and vehicle in such a way that you become more and more efficient
Take help from close people when sick
Listen to your body, rest if necessary, and be kind to yourself and others
Keep working at finding ways that help you be positive and happy

Inspite of all the planning and knowledge, things might not go as planned sometimes. The best thing to do is to take things slow and easy. Be easy on yourself.

To take care of the mental health of our family members, communication is key. We should pay attention to verbal and non verbal communication. Any behaviour changes or any energy differences can tell us a lot about what might be going on in others mind. This will help us to help each other and take care of the mental health of ourselves and our close ones.

Going on vacations is a most refreshing part of life. I enjoy travelling. There are many memorable trips down the memory lane with family. My recent tour with my family was to Europe. It was the first tour after my daughter became a teen. It was an unforgettable experience. It was a tour of the other part of the world seven seas away. We got to know different culture, different traditions, technological improvements etc. It was an wonderful experience. We had been to Italy that is Rome, Vatican, Florence, Venice, pisa, Milan. In Switzerland we had been to Lucerne, Mount Titlis, Basel. Then Paris, Belgium and Amsterdam. As a mother and daughter on one of the days of the trip we were twinning in same clothes. We got more time to spend with each other. We played in the snow ,had conversations throughout our journey over a cup of coffee. We clicked pictures together, went for shopping and I got to know better about my daughter's choice of clothing , accessories etc after she had become a teen. I'l carry the album of memories in my heart throughout my life.

It was a special moment when after a difficult pregnancy my son was born. Mom son relationship is always unique and he made me realise that. We hangout together, go for trips, chit-chat, do all crazy things together. A recent trip to Tirupati and Chennai alone with my son was a special one. We created memories and it also happened to be his first flight. It's such a wonderful feeling to be a mother of son who looks upto you as a friend.

My role as a STAY AT HOME SINGLE mom has curbed my financial ability to go ffor any long trips with my daughter. However we do try to enjoy with each other in whichever small way our budget permits.
Most trips are to my parents home in pune. These small trips give us the much needed break from our routine monotonous schedules.
One such trip happened in the month of july this year, when we got just 2 days advance intimation to attend a nephew's engagement ceremony in pune.
Its not easy for two ladies to plan a sudden rip in the middle of a hectic week . My teenaged daughter faced the worst dilemma in life. She could niether afford to miss the function nor her college.
First we tried to honestly take permission from college for leave for 2 days, but it was not granted. So we decided to risk by going anyway...sans permission. Planning for outfits for the morning and evening function, ironing and small time repairs to the dresses. Hunting our wardrobes and the market close by for matching jewellery...visit to the parlour etc. Digging out for special footwear from the shoe rack only to realize that the heel was broken which called for a quick trip to the cobbler.
Finally on the D day we hired a car and began our very pleasurable trip.
In the short drive of 2 hours, we enjoyed the greenery and scenic beauty of lonavala, devoured the vada pav and lonavala chikki famous here. Once in pune we paid a quick visit to our most loved Dagdu ganpati and chaturshringi temple.
At the venue we quickly changed our attire, ate and laughed, danced and sang all day. The same routine followed in the evening.
Next day early morning we woke up at 4 am and left pune st 5...when the world was still asleep. On the way back we slept a bit and gossiped about the previous night happenings. Backnto mumbai at 8.30 am ...dotty dear dressed up for college and travelled another 2 hours to start her normal routine.
This was the shortest and yet the sweetest outstation trip we both enjoyed the maximum. It left us absolutely rejuvenated and refreshed and fitted well into our shoe string budget too.

I will take u to my bacheloar's trip.. Said my daughter as she secretly planned the whole trip to Bangkok and Phuket this June. I was surprised as usually friends accompany the would be bride but according to her I was her best friend throughout as always there to pull her out of her worries.. motivating her to see the bright side of each aspect.. maintain patience and positivity in the times of distress etc. So it was girl's trip as she named it.. One girl 27 and the other 53..whole trip was sponsored by her.. through Thomas Cook. I was so excited.. for the first time after my marriage I was going to enjoy my bacheolar days. We had great fun as she forced me to do everything which I didn't for so many years.. Scuba diving, swimming in hotel pool, wearing shorts and one piece, watching dolphin show, cruise dinner.. partying and dancing to beats of Punjabi songs..I was so surprised to hear the playlist in Bangkok on Cruise.. All latest numbers included from laombirgini to lagdi lahore di hai... Thai massage and much more fun. I felt as if rebirth of mine as a teenager.. away from married life.. no responsibilities.. planned schedule.. out of boring routine.. She really gave me that happiness which was missing in all those years..because of the family commitments.. Refreshed my memories of a teenager.. my college days.. I think this was the best and memorable trip till now.Really wanted to have some more of such trips as they are a constant reminder of our identity as a person and 'me time' is needed for a change.. to groom our personality.. and most of all to take us out of boring schedule.. Fun and masti of this trip really filledme with an unbeatable energy.

My most memorable travel memory with my teenage daughter Rhianna would be our summer holidays in my native quaint little village in Goa in my childhood. She would desperately wait for her college finals to get over and holidays to begin. We waited for summer vacations all year long. Summer vacations were about sleeping in late without worrying about college. I would force her to take a nap in the afternoon, even though all she wanted to do was play, because in Goa everyone takes a siesta at noon. Once we woke up, she and my) her friends played like there was no tomorrow. Then there would be the Mandatory visits to Nana-Nani's house which were all about delicious home cooked food cooked by my Nani. They lived up in the forest hills For her travelling with mom to the hills was something she looked forward to. We would visit our family owned cashew plantations and the smell of cashews was heavenly. Also summer vacations meant reunions for her with cousins from Goa and out of Goa so it was like one grand party. Extra hours of TV were the best part of these holidays, there were no restrictions on her. Sometimes we would read comics and books by our favourite authors, not her college textbooks. We would wait for the ice-cream vendor to do his rounds in the neighbourhood, so we could buy orange/cola bar and mango duets which my daughter was crazy about. We had no phones to disturb us, and that really was the best part. She learnt cycling during that summer holiday, an experience I will never forget. She crashed her cousins bicycle against a tree and damaged the front rim of the cycle, and till this day my daughter thinks I don't know about it . She would also sneak out and steal mangoes and guavas from the neighbour's trees and they would chase her all over the village.

My best memorable trip to various temple visit with my friends i will cherish this moments forever! visited vaitheeswaran temple, saneeswaran temple, marudhamalai temple, Isha temple. Got more positive energy and inspiring nature with mindblowing places and peoples around. Vaitheeswaran temple is my family god so i used to visit everymonth in a while from chennai! Vaitheeswaran "God of healing" and it is believed that prayers to Vaitheeswaran can cure diseases by worshipping in this temple and it is true :) Saneeswaran temple i went to do some pooja and it was such a nice place to visit, cool and calm place. Marudhamalai temple perfect place to seek divinity and treat yourself to an architectural delight. Isha Just sitting silently for a few minutes within the sphere is enough to make even those unaware of meditation experience a state of deep meditativeness! Truly blessed to be in these places! Can't able to share all the photos so sharing some of the pics from my unforgettable trip with my friends :) thanks for the contest!

My memorable trip with my teenage daughter was of my recent trip to Mahableshwar, which is a beautiful hill station and a city ofMaharashtra. The spectacular views of the surrounding valleys and huge mountain peaks, cool, crisp air, beautiful waterfalls add to the beauty of the hill station. The city was a very nice retreat for city dwellers like us seeking a relief from the hot and humid climate of urban area. Arthurs Seat was the first spot we visited in Mahabaleshwar. From this spot we could see the clear contrast in the Konkan and Deccan landscapes of India. Venna Lake is one of the main attractions of Mahabaleshwar. We enjoyed boating in the lake. On the top of the Venna valley is the Lingmala Waterfall gushing down from 50 feet. Next was Powerboating in Tapola also known as Mini Kashmir. The unpolluted environment there was a best summer retreat with picturesque natural beauty. We also had a great shopping in the city. From there we purchased a wide variety of squashes, jams, jellies, and fresh strawberries. We could also find honey, Kolhapuri footwear, handcrafted walking sticks, crochet dresses, shawls, baskets and decorative items in the market. In the end it was the father daughter reconnecting that was the most significant part of this holiday.

We really had a great time during our trip to Ellora caves, near Aurangabad (Maharashtra). There we learnt about the history of that majestic piece of stone carving, this Kailash temple was built by the Rashtrakuta dynasty as a temple for Lord Shiva. It really looks like of Mount Kailash, the abode of Shiva, and hence it was named. The Kailash Temple is a multi-storeyed temple complex, with idols of hindu Gods and Goddesses carved on the walls, beautifully. We really had a blessed trip as we also visited Grishdenshwar Shiva Jyotirlinga, which is hardly 2Km ahead of Ellora caves. Feeling so much proud of our rich cultural heritage and artistics skills of people of that era

We really had a blessed trip as we also visited Grishdenshwar Shiva Jyotirlinga, which is hardly 2Km ahead of Ellora caves. Feeling so much proud of our rich cultural heritage and artistics skills of people of that era

Beautiful architecture of the temple. It must have been an awesome experience for your kid too.

With my teen kids we had a memorable trip to the tip of south india when we visited the shore temple of Rameswaram. The scenic beauty of the sea and the temple town were a sight to behold..During a visit to the KothandaRamar temple it was dusk and my kids saw that vast road leading to it stark empty! It was then that this photo was taken as they asked us parents to click this photo while they posted on that road. It was such a memorable picture and I think teens do have their quirky sense of humour always up their sleeve! A photograph to be cherished Always.
