"I most definitely learnt to be mindful of how I spent my resources, whether it was food, money or anything else."

All through my childhood I saw my father working very hard and being extremely conscious of wastage. I think more than what your parents explicitly ask you to do, you learn by example, from watching them do things. I most definitely learnt to be mindful of how I spent my resources, whether it was food, money or anything else.
I don't think I ever saw it as conscious teaching, but it became a part of who I am. And that has reflected in every aspect of my life and work. From switching off lights (when not in use) to never wasting food and how I run my factory - everything is dictated by this principle.
I believe that children learn from the actions of their parents; so, my son has learnt the same values. However, I asked my son what he learnt from me and he said humility. And, that too is an important trait to becoming successful.
