Healthy Millet ----Mouth watering recipes for Children

Millets have lots of nutrition.This miracle grain has to be brought back to our plates in an innovative way. Here are some mouth watering recipes..

         1. Kodo Millet Laddu


Key Millet ingredients:   Kodo Millet                   

Complete ingredients list 

            Kodo Millet - 1 cup

            Dry fruits.    - 1/4 cup

            Pea nuts     - 1/4 cup

           Jaggery.       -   3/4 cup

            Ghee             -5 Tsp

Preparation process

      Soak 1 cup of Kodo millet in water for half an hour.Drain water and filter Dry roast till it become   crispy .Grind it and keep aside .Now dry roast dry fruits and peanuts .Grind it .Now mix all these roasted powdered ingredients along with 3/4 cup of powdered jaggery .Now add 5 Tsp of hit ghee to it and mix well. Make Laddu .The Healthy Kodo millet laddu is ready

Key Millet ingredients:  

                                     Barnyard 

                                            Millet

Complete ingredients list 


      Barnyard Millet- 200 gms

      Fresh cream      20 ml

Condensed milk.    200 ml

Jaggery                   1 cup


Preparation process

Take the Barnyard Millet and dry roast them in a dry pan .Wash once .Then 

cook them in a boiling water until they are soft .To this add jaggery .Once the jaggery melts completely chill it .Then cool and make smooth paste in food processor.To the cooled smooth paste add the fresh cream and condensed milk .Decorate using cherry and cashew nuts .

3  Barnyard Biryani

                                     Barnyard 

                                            Millet

Complete ingredients list 


      Barnyard Millet- 300 gms

      Bay leaf.               1

      Star anise.            1

      Cloves                    3

   Cardomom                 3

 Cinnamon.                  1

Chilly powder.           1 Tsp

Green chillies.            2

Onion                           1

Tomato                        1

Lemon                          2 Tsp 

Coriander powder.      1 Tsp

Ginger garlic paste.     2 Tsp


Corriander & curry leaf

Cashew nut.                  10


Preparation process

Soak Barnyard Millet for 10 mins .In  pressure cooker add 3 Tsp oil , after few secs add bay leaf, star anise , cinnamon, cardomom, cloves .Saute for 30 secs .Add 2 green chillies, 1 medium size onion, tomato , ginger garlic paste and saute for 30 secs , Add 1 Tsp chilly powder , 1 Tsp corriander powder to it .Now add soaked Barnyard rice to it .Add 2 glass of water .Add 2 Tsp of lemon juice, required salt to it . Pressure cook for  2 whistles.Add corriander leaves to it(optional ) .Ghee roast cashew nuts and add to it . Now flavourable Barnyard Biryani is ready
