Hello all,
I just wanted to share my experience when I went with my college going daughter to send her in a bus to college.
I remembered the day when she was going to LKG, I was sending her in school bus by telling bye, now somehow I felt not much time is left to me to send her like this, as she will finish her education, join for job somewhere, later getting married and going to inlaws
Many times I think why in India only girls have to go to inlaws, eventhough technology improved, people are all educated, but systems are not changed.
Parents pour all their love to their daughter but later children can't stay with them.
In India, parents also do not like to stay with daughters, this is what I feel bad.
I am realising my mom's feeling now, how she would have felt when I am grown up and got married.
What is the experience of other parents with girl child.

Don't worry. Times are changing as we speak. As a mom of a married 26 yo I can confidently say that old social norms are giving way to new and hopefully organic ways of relating to people. For eg: My daughter's mil is now my bestie and we look forward to visit our kids who live abroad together , very soon. Important thing to remember is to relate to new connections neutrally, that is not to assign rigid mil, sil, dil notions.

Totally agree with you Arathi. But you know nowadays because of these jobs, sons also don't stay with their parents but yes agree, that a son's parents feel like they have a right to go to their son's place and stay for long term but a daughter's parents will only visit occasionally.
