Welcome to the Community Heads Up Challenge! Well, you must be wondering what it is.

Ever since the mobile phone got us hooked we seem to have forgotten what the real world around us looks and feels like. We believe that the answer to getting back in touch with the real world lies in a simple yet powerful choice -   to keep our heads up (and not peering at our phones) so we can become fully aware of people, things, and happenings around us.

What if you could set aside your phone for a few moments every day so that you could hold your head up and look around you? Imagine a whole new world it could open up for you!

We invite you to stay ‘Heads Up’ for 7 days starting Friday, January 27, 2023.

The Heads-Up Challenge is very simple to do. We are sure it will be a great new experience for you.

Ready to take up the challenge? Get set, go!

DAY 6-

I always wanted to go deep into the desert and watch the dark sky, the moonlight, and the beautiful stars. But I never got such an opportunity in my life. But yesterday was one of my best days. I got the opportunity to view the GREEN COMET, which passes closest to the earth once in 50000 years. A famous astrophotographer, Ajith, organised the whole event and set up big telescopes with the latest software, and we could see the comet on the screen. I actually expected to see the comet fly past over our head and was a bit disappointed to see it as a hazy dot on the computer screen but then he explained to all of us that it was 44 million kilometres away from us and in the galactic point of view , it is a very short distance.

I met a lot of enthusiastic amazing astro- photographers who shared great information about the galaxies and how we can use an application to track the star system on our phones.

Overall, it was an absolutely thrilling experience, and I enjoyed the 6 hours of the journey thoroughly.

My Day 6 experience - I picked up a book that's been sitting on my bedside table for ever so long. I read a whole chapter before going to bed. So relaxing. Much better than scrolling on my phone before bedtime.

It’s MAKE A DECISION Day today!

Congratulations! You have reached the final day of the Heads-Up Challenge. Give yourself a

pat on the back and feel proud of your efforts.

Today, set your phone aside as you reflect on the past six days and the many new experiences you’ve had just by keeping your head up. Make a note of the little but significant steps you took to open yourself to the world around you. And you’re not going to let it end here, are you? Make a decision right now - to henceforth stay HEADS UP more often to experience the joy of connection, not just with yourself, but also with your family, friends, and the beautiful world around you.

Connection Time

Gather your family members around to announce your decision to stay ‘heads-up’ more often than before.

We wish you and your family a “Happy Heads Up 2023!

DAY 7- RECALL+ RECAP>>>CHERISH YOUR LIFE

In our mundane life, we never realise the blessings we have received from the Almighty and never appreciate the golden opportunities given to us. But penning them down like how we have done in this one week challenge makes it easier for us to appreciate what we had experienced the whole week.

The week did have its ups and downs. But I thoroughly feel that we should focus more on the positive side of everything and that only will improve our future too.

It’s DAYDREAMING Day today!

Take small breaks from your phone as you allow yourself to daydream no matter where you are—on the balcony, bedroom, terrace, or restroom, even while traveling. And in that very private space with only yourself for company, let your mind wander. Build castles in the air. You never know what ideas and plans are waiting to be discovered. Relax, have fun, and marvel at your imagination. Go on … start daydreaming and stop overthinking!

My Day 3 experience - I put my phone aside, sat in the balcony and let my mind wander...my favorite tunes played in my head and I remembered songs I had learned in school. And memories of school. Decision made. I must sing to myself every day!

It’s MOVEMENT Day today!

Instead of mindless scrolling and slouching over your phone why not do your stiff muscles a big favor?  Find as many opportunities as you can to Strrrrretch. Shake. Dance. Do a mini workout with squats, push-ups, or sit-ups. Put a little spring in your step today and feel the energy and cheer spread inside you. Don’t be surprised if you get along better with people today, or if you end up doing more work than you thought you could.

Cheers to a healthier you!

It’s HAPPY MEMORIES Day today!

Feel like you’re tied up in knots over the many things you need to get done? Picking up your phone is often more stress-inducing. Instead, let your happy memories bust the stress. All you have to do is take a slow good look around you and observe the little details. Soon, someone or something you see is bound to trigger a happy memory of a person, a place, an experience, or a conversation. Feel the stress slip away, and suddenly everything seems doable!

DAY 5-HAPPY MEMORIES DAY. Nothing can bring back more smiles and happiness than talking to an old friend. Deepa Prakash has been my best and closest friend ever since 1992. ❤️. She was the first person who became my friend when I joined class 10 in the middle of 10th standard.

We have many cherished memories with her, and today I connected with her on the phone, and we spoke for almost 2 hours, laughing and reminiscing all our old antics and craziness. One of the funniest moments was that we both were fat during our school days 😂 and one day, when we were walking on the street , a truck driver called us ELEPHANT 🐘 TWINS. Instead of getting offended and upset , we burst out laughing, and till today, we call ourselves ELEPHANT TWINS . Whenever I feel happy or sad, she is the first person I contact. Even after 30 years , we are still b0nded and hoping to create lots more memorable moments with her. The photo below was taken in 2013.  ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Day 5 Happy memory

Recently on June 2022, blooming of Brahma Kamal ( Night Queen) in my balcony garden has left a beautiful happy  memory .It is a very sacred flower with magic smell and positive vibes ❤️ .Seeing it blooming was feast to my eyes .I planted it  3 years ago and this is the first and one and only one flower from that plant .I am still eagerly  waiting when another flower will be blooming from this sacred  plant .

My Day 5 experience - Staring at the building construction opposite my house my eyes fell on the parapet and soon my mind went back to my childhood. I must have been about 7 or 8 years old. Along with the boys I dared to walk on the parapet above the third floor. It was such a thrill. I was daring back then! A fearless adventurer. I felt the thrill run through me remembering those times.

It's FACE-to-FACE Day today!!!

Make an extra-special effort to have face-to-face conversations, to laugh with others, and to share your story, to listen to someone’s happy or not-so-happy story. Feel connected as people’s eyes convey a lot more than words, as their gestures make you feel excited, warm or soothed. Believe us when we say it’s going to be a different day today!

DAY 2- SATURDAY. Saturdays are one of my busiest days of the week. I have a lot of kids coming to my house for maths classes. I enjoy Saturdays since it gives me an opportunity to chat with the young children and hear their stories, struggles and jokes. I realised how important it is to spend time with the kids so that they feel loved, safe and mentally fit

DAY 1- MY FAVOURITE DAY-FRIDAY. I went to the beach. Heard the beach water splash against the shore, smelt the misty fishy smell of the beach. Walked barefoot on the rocky sandy area of the beach. Connected with nature as I removed the unwanted man made plastic from the beach. Grouped up with all my friends of different nationalities for a group photo and realised We have only one Earth and we should all do what we can to create a better world for future generations

DAY 1 -

IT'S SENSE(A)TIONAL DAY!!!

It’s time to awaken all your senses. As you go about your day today become fully aware of the power of each of your senses.

SEE: Look up at everything that’s above you, around you, and below you. Take in the colors and patterns of nature, people’s expressions, and all the actions around you.

●  HEAR: Close your eyes and tune in to all the sounds around you. Is it quiet or noisy? Notice the effect they have on you— do they calm or excite you?

SMELL: Put your nose to work as you take slow deep breaths and become aware of all the smells around you. Are they familiar or new smells? Imagine your favorite smells, fragrances, and aromas, and watch how they work their magic on you.

TASTE: Every time you pop something into your mouth, feel its texture, and the sensation it creates on your tongue. Let the aftertaste linger on. You may even discover a new taste today.

TOUCH: Bring your palms together and feel the touch of your skin. Run your fingers over a few objects – are they hard or soft, smooth or rough, warm or cold? Observe how you respond to the feel of each of them.

Go on... Put all your senses to work as you collect brand-new experiences today.

My Day 1 experience - I tried to see patterns in the clouds and also found 2 insects among my plants. I heard the sound of the wind blowing.  I smelt the aroma of ghee and was reminded of my mom feeding me when I was little. I experimented with making a new salad dressing instead getting a recipe from the internet. I ran my hand over the table mat to feel its texture and discovered all the crumbs of food on it and realized it needed to be cleaned! Many new, refreshing experiences today :)
