If as a parent I am ever worried about my now adult kids sticking their noses into their mobiles all the time, I am always saddened to see little ones all around us overdoing their screen time just because the parents are too busy to keep them engaged creatively.

And these days the stress is compounded even for us adults with AI-led chatbots – especially ChatGPT – becoming a big thing. Every day, I’d hear news about how ChatGPT has cleared MBA exams, helped someone else win a lottery, is a coding whiz, grammarian, and more…

Then one day, my brother’s family came for a visit. This meant dealing with two cutie pie mischievous nephews whose constant refrain was ‘Athai, bore ho raha hoon’ (Aunty, I am getting bored). It was then that I wondered if I could put the latest tech to use and help the little ones discover the joys of ‘non-tech’ activities. I switched on my computer, looked up ChatGPT, an AI-powered chatbot created by OpenAI, did all the login things it asked me to do, and asked it to take me and my nephews on an unexpected adventure.

Can an AI chatbot truly enhance creativity in children? I wondered. But much to my amazement, it did, and quite impressively.
