Ya it's very true that Millets are one of the God's finest creations. People in the olden days were aware of the nutritional value of millets and their power to enhance immunity This was the secret behind them leading a disease free and long life.
I am feeling proud to know that millets have been mentioned in some of the oldest yajurveda texts identifying foxtail millet ( Priyan gava ) , Barnyard millet ( Aanava) and Black finger (Shyamala ).
Millets is the generic name given to more than 6,000 species of wild annual grains found throughout the world.
It is nice to know Millet festivals are celebrated across India . In the tribal areas of Vishakapatnam, a community festival during month of June - July . In Northern Andhra Pradesh , tradition of making ragi recipes are still continued on the occasion of Nagula Chavithi . In Madhya Pradesh, ragi is mixed with turmeric and applied on the bodies of the bride and groom during wedding ceremonies to ward off evil spirits

I have included millets ...the power grains in my diet . In Karnataka Ragi(finger millet) is miracle grain ...I prepare Ragi Mudde , Ragi dosa ,Ragi Halwa. In this international year of millet, let us all include our traditional and nutritional millet in our diet
So ..please let me know What is the major millet grown in your region? How have you included in your diet ?
