The monsoons are just around the corner and so are a host of illnesses. Here are some tips to help you keep your child safe and enjoy the season.

Rashmi Jul 26, 2019

Monsoons are nearing. Actually monsoons are a treat. Many of us like to play and dance in rain. From nursery rhyme rain rain go away to movies monsoons have been given a very special place. But it is not so fancy as shown in movies. It is not just playing and singing in rain but extra care has to be taken in rainy season especially for children. We should make the Kids wear warm clothes and rain coat when necessary. Good nutritious food have to be given to children to develop immunity in them. Fruits, vegetables, dry fruits, milk etc have to be given to children to develop resistance in them. Mosquitoes also increase in rainy season and as they breed in stagnant water, children should be instructed not to play around dirty , stagnant water. In monsoon the diseases tend to spread easily so we have to insure to take all the necessary steps like avoiding eating roadside junk food.

Some fun is always good! But be cautious!

Kids love rains and hate them too because they bring obstacles in their daily outdoor activities.
We all have loved floating those paper boats in rain water and get wet despite the scoldings of our moms.

The main point to remember here is that kids will be kids and it's should be kept in mind that even they want to enjoy in rain.
Instead of letting them stay away from everything, let them be kids.
To a certain point, everything is perfect and controllable. No kid will be allowed to stay out for hours in the rain, in any case.

Some precautions to remember during monsoons are:-

-Make sure to change your kids clothes immediately after they have fun in the rain.
-Mix some antiseptic liquid with warm water for bathing purpose.
-Do not allow kids to stay in wet clothes for a long time.
-Make sure your kids are given a good head-rinse even post bathing.
-A light massage using a massage oil your child uses regular, after post-rain bathing, is beneficial.
-Regularly giving immunity-boosting recipes to your kids, can actually make them less prone to developing a cold when they get wet in the first rains.
-Always stay around your kids when they get wet.
- Never leave your kids to get wet alone in the rain, accidents can happen.

Over the years, we all have heard how getting wet in the rain gives invitation to common cold. This is a fact but letting kids enjoy once in a while will actually freshen their minds up.

Tips to keep children safe during monsoon season.
1. First of all, let the kids play during monsoon, don't stop them just because they will catch cold or fever.
2. Drink warm milk and curd ( helps in digestion) at least once in a day.
3. Avoid mosquitoes as much as you can. Apply mosquito repellent cream when they go out for playing. Use mosquito net at night.
4. Keep medicines like paracetamol, vapour rub, nasal drops ready at home.
5. After playing once kids are back home clean them first, wash hands with soap, drink lots of water, drink home made lentil/ chicken / vegetable soups whenever you can.
Enjoy Monsoon...dear kids! Sawan barse tarse dil.. Kyun naa nikle Ghar se dil!

Well, my perspective on child safety during monsoon is different. Fun, puddles, paper boats and getting drenched in the rain bring along with cough, cold, skin infections and stomach disorders, if it happens then consult to doctor or get some home remedies done. I prefer that child age is the age to play, have fun. If we as a parent, stop them by excessive care and concern, they will miss their childhood age. I suggest to live in the moment, enjoy with your child, observe the child curiosity. We need to watch and direct our child going wrong, or doing something irrelevant. More Do's and Don't affects child grooming and he/she won't easily come out of their comfort zone. It is not necessary that child may affect with cold and other things by having fun in the rain, child gets stronger. If it gets affected by rain than it is not necessary that same situation may repeat twice. Child immunity system and resistance power build up when he/she is strong and fearless.

Children need awareness and a little coaxing to make them.understand the importance of health, hygiene and cleanliness especially during monsoon. We need to form a habit to always wash hands as gerne spread through them and the season being prone to cold and coughs. Dont take anything cold and always eat warm food. Drink only boiled water and try to avoid outside food too. Change into dry clothes if clothes get damp.A little precaution will go a long way to keep healthy during monsoon

With monsoons comes so many diseases like skin infections, water borne diseases, mosquito bite borne diseases etc. So to keep our children safe and protected from these diseases, parents must ensure that

2. Include ginger tea/milk, turmeric milk etc in their diet. Give them chyavanprash regularly at night with warm milk.

3. Give them immunity booster homeopathic medicines, if your child has week immunity
