26th June is celebrated as International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. Today's theme is Health for Justice' that emphasises on the philosophy of justice and health are two sides of the same coin. International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed to spread awareness about the extreme cultural and economic harm the trade is still doing across the globe as well as to strengthen global action and cooperation. Following are the form of several awareness for the life threatening effects of drugs that can be educated to the child at their early ages:
    1. In school, Various seminars, exhibitions, campaigns and lectures should be organised to spread awareness about drug abuse.
    2. School might celebrate this day in order to spread awareness amongst children by sharing affected person's real life examples with their experiences.
    3. In syllabus, there should be a chapter on Introduction by the government of India on stringent rules to curb the menace of drug abuse and its trafficking. Morever, Central Drugs Standard Control Government Organization of India takes part annually in various programmes that promote the eradication of drug abuse. Also, several organizations collaborate with the World Health organisation actively to prepare international standards and measures to eradicate substance abuse.
    4. Those students who are affected should be given awareness that The Narcotic Anonymous, a Non-Governmental Organizations provides counselling and treatment to several drugs abusers and restore their disturbed lives.
Hence, we can say that International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking is celebrated to spread awareness about the drug abuse and its side effects to children at their early ages so that they get alert in their adulthood.

So important to keep children informed about the ill-effects of drugs. They may succumb to peer pressure or misinformation especially online. It is us parents, teachers and responsible elders who have to have a heart-to-heart talk with our children and tell them that drug-addiction paves the path for one's degradation not only in academics or in one's profession but also in one's relationships, emotions and personality.

@Reshma Lal Rightly said. We as elders have to show them the right way, not in a preachy manner but more as a friend.
