Teaching Kids To Cook

You’re passing through the shelves of the supermarket and suddenly your child asks you to stop because he has just spotted a cooking set. He’s adamant about having one for himself, and you smile and buy him one. Chances are, your son, seeing you chop all those vegetables in the morning, slowly stirring the hot stew you are making, has developed a passion for cooking. Perhaps, he’s the next MasterChef!

The famous American television personality, Guy Fieri once said, “Cooking with kids is not just about ingredients, recipes, and cooking. It's about harnessing imagination, empowerment, and creativity.”

So, why not give him the chance and involve him in cooking? According to an article titled Cooking with Children, published in WebMD, “It's true that including the kids in cooking meals requires time, patience, and some extra clean-up, especially when the children are younger. But many experts think it is well worth the effort. For one thing, cooking with your kids can help get them interested in trying healthy foods they might normally turn their noses up at.” The article also suggests that cooking breakfast together is a good start. It has the added benefit of getting children to eat breakfast as studies have proved that eating a healthy breakfast improves children’s memory and test grades.

So, encourage your child to pick up that ladle and cook with you. To know more about the benefits of teaching children to cook, go through the ClipBook below which is a curation of some amazing links from around the web!
