India successfully targeted a live satellite on a low earth orbit with an anti-satellite weapon (ASAT), and now the country has officially become an elite space superpower.

But, what exactly is a space superpower?

There has never been a better time to teach children about this term. Countries that have their own anti-satellite missiles and manage to shoot down a lower orbiting satellite are known as Space Superpowers. Russia, China and US were the only countries that had these space capabilities until now, when India knocked down a lower orbiting satellite within three minutes of its missile launch.

After years of hard work, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully manged to pull off this mammoth task. Mission Shakti enabled this momentous feat!

Even as the whole country continues to celebrate and PM Modi addressed the nation explaining the launch process and the future prospects of this mission, we bring to you a ClipBook to know all about this breaking news.
