As children grow up, they learn to do more and more things by themselves. However, most parents avoid involving their children in helping them with household chores. There are many reasons for doing so; for example, parents want to finish the work quickly while children would do it slowly, children might hurt themselves doing a chore, or they may end up creating a mess.

What most parents ignore is the fact that making children do household chores can be an excellent way of teaching them some very useful life lessons. Some of the things children learn by doing household chores are: to be responsible, understand how capable they are, and how to work together as a team. They also learn the value of hard work.
