For The Single Mom

ParentCircle, ParentcircleParentCircle

Being a single mom takes a lot of courage. It brings along with it the challenges of maintaining a good work-life balance, being the sole bread winner and battling skyrocketing expenses. And since there isn’t a father around, sometimes kids can end up feeling a little neglected. Despite these challenges, many mothers from all over the world manage this role with aplomb. They are a parent as a whole, trying their best to juggle several responsibilities while always being there for their children. If you are one such parent, don’t worry. Although it may be difficult to begin with, with time you should be able to manage your role effortlessly. Just ensure that you don’t make ‘sacrifices’ for your children. According to missmalini.com, the famous actor and single mom, Sushmita Sen is quoted as saying, “The good thing is that I’ve never made any ‘sacrifices’ for my children. Because when you put sacrifice as an element, you tend to let the child feel the pressure of ‘I did this for you’.”

Worry not, we are all here to help single moms balance the act. For some inspiration, here’s what a single mother wrote in her article on parents.com – “I saw it as a balancing act. I didn't have the time or energy to stress over some of the finer points of household management like I did when there was another adult helping out - but at the same time, my kids needed structure and the sense of security it provides, now more than ever. So, I began to really focus on figuring out what mattered and what didn't. Forget organized closets, spotless bathrooms, and ironing. Try to say yes to serving nutritious family dinners, scheduling regular bedtimes, and being prompt for pickups and drop-offs. For a while, it was overwhelming, but we eventually created less chaos.”

Be proud to be a single mom. We salute you!
