Everyday Travails Of A Woman

Safecity

Almost all parents nowadays are worried about their teenage daughters going out after sunset, or taking a bus or a metro at an odd hour of the day. With numerous cases of crime being reported these days, parents are always worried about the safety of their daughters, even when they are out with trusted people.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau, there was a decrease in the number of rapes reported in 2015. But there has been a marginal increase in the number of other offences committed against women, such as sexual harassment, molestation, assault or use of criminal force with an intent to disrobe, voyeurism, stalking, abduction and so on.

It is, therefore, essential that teenaged girls are sensitised to the kind of crimes they might come across outside of home. Not only should they be aware, they should also be encouraged to raise their voice against any such crime they encounter.

Teenage girls should ensure that they carry pepper sprays and know how to defend themselves when attacked. They should recognise and report incidences of violence, be alert and confident on the roads, speak up against violence, and say ‘NO’ loudly and firmly. Such tips will boost their confidence and overall self-esteem.

Let us look at some cases and incidences of different forms of crimes in this ClipBook by Safecity.
