Dussehra Dolls Display

ParentCircle

Do you want your children to know about our tradition and culture? If you display dolls for the gombe habba or get invited for one, it could be a learning opportunity for your children. This colourful tradition, also called Golu, is prevalent in the southern states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

The dolls arrangement involve displaying beautiful figurines on a steps-like structure. The dolls, which are usually displayed in odd numbers are arranged according to a theme. Raja-rani or Pattadi wooden dolls are an integral part of the dolls display. Dolls mostly are from Indian mythology, however, animals and other theme-related dolls are also displayed. There is an element of spirituality too in the display too, with different days of Navratri being assigned to a different deity. Mythological goddesses like Saraswati, Parvati, and Laxmi are an integral part of the gombe habba.

So, take the festive fun to a different level by doing this at your home or witnessing the Dussehra dolls display elsewhere with your child.
