Are You Ready To Adopt?

ParentCircle, ParentcircleParentCircle

Adopting a child is a noble deed. Giving life to an orphan is equal to saving a life. Parents are the best gift of God for a child and the child is the biggest asset of all parents. Adoption is a blessing in disguise to both the adopting parents and the adopted child, as it gives a new meaning to their lives. Thus, the value of adoption is inexplicably big.

Adoption is a very sensitive issue. So, before moving into the procedures of adoption there are a lot of things to be considered and taken care of. These include things like marital stability, the pattern of lifestyle, health conditions, financial stability and job security.

There are a lot of myths that surround adoption. ‘The Truth About Domestic Adoption’ by Eliza Newlin Carney is an article published in Adoptive Families. Here, she says, “Today, families who’ve adopted domestically often say that any initial concern about the role of birth parents has been replaced by gratitude for the opportunity to know their child’s family of origin.”

A child should not be adopted to save your marriage or as an excuse to bear a child on your own.

Above everything, the decision must be made willingly and wholeheartedly as a couple and never at the compulsion of either of the persons in the relationship. Adoption should be made only after thorough preparations, mentally, emotionally, psychologically and financially. If all of these are in place, parents can readily adopt a child and give the little one a new lease of life.
