Websites and apps providing quality educational content are fast becoming an increasingly important medium of learning. Their availability and popularity have increased significantly with the rise in the use of smartphones and easy availability of Internet. As a result, education and learning are no longer restricted to the ubiquitous classrooms or tuition classes.

There are many popular websites and apps that provide a variety of educational content and learning tools. For example, Quizlet provides free and inspiring learning tools that meet the requirements of a wide range of students; from grade school to graduate school and from vocational students to language learners, Quizlet’s learning tools help students improve their academic performance. Duolingo is another popular language learning platform that includes a website and app. It is free and provides a science-based learning environment. It was awarded the iPhone App of the Year 2013, Google’s Best of the Best 2013 and TechCrunch’s Best Education Startup 2014.

BusinessWire in one of its reports titled ‘Education Apps Growing in Popularity’ had predicted that the global m-education market would grow at an impressive Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of around 21% between 2016 and 2020. This report attributed the growth of the m-education market to the growing popularity of educational apps.
