7 Of The Best Headphones For Children

Unknown, ParentcircleParentCircle

In this age of technology, gadgets seem to come with more bane than boons. While excessive computer usage gives severe back pains and mobiles lead to eye problems, here’s another gadget that adds to devices-related health ailments – headphones.

According to an article in Express, “Noises louder than 110 decibels are known to cause hearing problems such as temporary deafness and tinnitus, or ringing in the ears. Some personal music players generate volumes in the ear more than 120 decibels, which is similar in intensity to a jet engine and louder than a pneumatic drill. A safe level is below 80-85 decibels.” This article also cites a research that says headphones can reach the sound levels of a jet engine and that people are putting their hearing at risk by listening to music via headphones.

But, our children are more susceptible to these possible hearing problems because, one, their ears are more sensitive, and two, they are less aware about the risks of cranking up the volume too high. An article in How-To Geek advises, “The best way to protect your child from progressive hearing loss is to equip them with a pair of headphones that limits how loud the volume can go so even when they mash the volume button in response to their loud siblings or noise on the train they can’t crank it high enough to hurt themselves.”

Hearing is as important a sense to your child as anything else. So, learn more about headphones risks and safety from our ClipBook.
