6 Comic Books Your Child Must Read

ParentCircle

Comics have been published from the 1890s. Originally they were published as short strips in newspapers. As they gained popularity, entire books were devoted to comics. Today comics are loved by everyone, children and adults alike.

However, some people look down at comics as an inferior form of literature. Critics say that since comics are so image laden, children spend more time looking at the pictures than reading the words. Nevertheless, comics are a great way to get early readers to fall in love with reading. The flashy pictures may lure them to the book but eventually they start taking an interest in reading the stories as well.

Comics can also include valuable lessons for young children. Indian comics such as Tinkle and Amar Chitra Katha include many folk tales and fables that carry moral stories for children to follow.

So, read through our list of suggested comics and pick up a few for your child.
