Our diet comprises the foods and drinks we consume on a regular basis. An individual’s diet is influenced by many factors, some of which are gender, culture, age, income and education. However, the important factor is, our diet affects our health and well-being. Scientific studies have shown that a healthy diet can reduce the risk of many lifestyle diseases as well as other diseases like diabetes anda cancer.

So, what type of diet is the best for leading a healthy life?

Long-term evidence suggests that most healthy diets include a large amount of fruits and vegetables and a minimal amount of fats and animal products. A low-fat diet that is rich in vegetables and whole grains prevents many diseases and improves the health. Eliminating meat and dairy products that are high in saturated fat and cholesterol helps in preventing many diseases, including certain types of cancers. It is important to choose the correct diet to derive the most benefit.
