@Rani Lakshmi Really understand your concern. Keep reminding her to drink. Try packing her a box of cut fruits and veggies like cucumber, melons, oranges etc., which are loaded with water. If she likes coconut water, let her drink that. Most of the milk shops have buttermilk available. She can drink fluids in any form and sometimes her body will crave water and let her take water bottle without fail. These kids are very intelligent but sometimes they need lot of reminders for simple things like this:-) My teens also are like that sometimes. Keep forwarding her messages and information about the importance of water. People who don’t drink enough water may face a lot of health problems like digestion related problems, acne, kidney stones etc., Speak to her friends also and request them to remind her. Hopefully she will understand. Since she is being a little stubborn, at home, when you are around, drink water in front of her as much as possible and offer her a glass of water every now and then. Give her healthy drinks like smoothies and home made juice that she likes. It is funny that sometimes we have to treat them like babies, trying to offer them when they are capable of walking and pouring a glass of water themselves. They behave too busy or uninterested. With all your efforts I'm sure she will get the point very soon. All the Best :-)
@Roopa M Thank you so much, Roopa for your answer...I have lately started setting goals for myself and my kids. We try to monitor each other and this has helped us achieve this goal.
@Karna Dileep Vardhan Reddy I have a friend of mine who is also underweight and no matter how much she eats, her body weight is either the same or lesser. For certain body types, the metabolic rate varies which to a large extent determines their body weight. Just ensure that her bad eating habits do not crawl in too much and she is educated and corrected right now. My friend was also quite lethargic and inactive most of the time and she was anemic too. But soon she made it a point to start eating healthy and move around more often. I think a bad instance when witnessed will drastically change the way she is eating right now. Give her practical examples of people like her who are suffering now because of their bad eating habits. This will be like a burst of reality for her which may make her to seriously rethink her food and lifestyle choices.
