One fine day last year, I accidentally discovered that my 20-month-old son could ‘read’. He picked up a pastel-green Winnie-the-Pooh counting book, his favourite then, and spoke the lines that went with each page and picture. He did not make a single mistake. Apparently, my child had listened and recorded everything that I had read aloud to him. He wanted to be read to, he enjoyed ‘reading’ on his own, and I am sure he will absolutely love re-reading his books once he grows up.
