I’ve often been asked this: “What’s the very idea of parenting?” I can’t resist using my hand each time I am asked that question. Don’t get me wrong. I have no intention of punching anyone. For me, my hand defines what parenting is all about. The five fingers represent eating together, playing together, walking together, talking together and laughing together. As parents, if we can get all or most of these going in our lives, we are taking the right steps to connect with our children and laying the foundation for a healthy parent-child relationship. Too much gyaan? Well, I am not a Parenting Guru, I am just another parent, a hands-on dad to a nearly six-year-old boy, Viren, who is still discovering the myriad beauty his natural and innocent world offers. We, as a family, love connecting over the little things in life.
