Five-year-old Ashwin has recently been visiting the doctor almost every week for treatment of cold and cough. His doctor asked his mother take steps to build his immunity rather than depending too much on medication to help Ashwin overcome his cold. Well, this is a common problem. Research shows that a young child suffers around 6 – 8 bouts of cold in a year. While cold medications and cough syrups are easily available, many studies show they are not necessarily effective.
