"My parents gave me the choice to pursue whatever I wanted; it goes without saying that I will allow my children to pursue whatever they want."

My parents always believed it is not the profession that glorifies you, but you who glorify the profession. I could see that in the way they presented themselves always. They inspired me by their actions and wanted me to be a good human being first. They are my role models. When I was growing up, considering both my parents are doctors, there was an obvious inclination for me to take up medicine. But, my love for cricket was at a different level. My parents understood my passion for cricket and gave me the freedom to pursue it, with a deadline of five years. It worked for me, and whatever I am today is because of them. I attribute my success to them. They’ve had an enormous influence on me and I hope to carry on the same with my children.
My parents gave me the choice to pursue whatever I wanted; it goes without saying that I will allow my children to pursue whatever they want. I believe that every child has a unique talent. It is, therefore, imperative to encourage children. Ultimately, it is their life and they should be happy doing whatever they want in life. If you are not passionate about what you do, it is easy to back out during tough times. So, I will always encourage my children to follow their passion.
