Somewhere between the festive lights, sparkling stars and well-bedecked trees, the joyous season of Christmas came to an end. It was during this magical time that ParentCircle conducted a Bake Your Cake: Parent-Child Baking Workshop at Statement Cafe in Adyar, Chennai, on 21 December 2018.
The fun-filled workshop saw around 20 enthusiastic participants, including children and their parents. The event enabled them to spend quality time together while looking to enhance their baking and frosting skills. Statement Cafe's passionate pastry chefs — Rita and Vimitha, were more than happy to share their tips and ideas on the art of baking, and yes, the participants eagerly hung on their every word!
Parents were thrilled to see their little children whisk up batter, whip up their own fluffy frosting and creatively decorate their yummy cupcakes and crispy cookies. The little chefs also learnt various icing techniques such as how to make flower swirls and leaf tips. Trying to apply what they learnt — parents and children were engrossed in making various fillings and frostings for their deliciously-flavoured cupcakes and cookies.
"I've been to a couple of baking workshops before, where the sessions would have the teacher show us how it is done and the participants would just watch and learn. Here, we got the chance to try our hands at everything. So, it was a really good experience. Looking forward to more such workshops like this," said one of the parents.
The best part of the workshop was however, when the children were at their imaginative best, gleefully crafting their very own vanilla cookies in different exciting shapes like stars, butterflies and flowers. They were delighted with their creations!
As the event drew to a close, there were dollops of creamy batter all around, not to mention, contagious giggling and much laughter. And of course, the mouthwatering aroma of freshly-baked pastries. Another highlight was the utterly delicious super-soft vanilla sponge cake that was made from scratch by our eager participants!
"I hardly get to spend time with my daughter. I think this is an awesome vacation-special and ideal to bond with your kids. Looking forward to more workshops like this one for parents and their children. It was truly a wonderful experience," exclaimed another happy mother.
We are glad that the participating parents and their children had such a wonderful time at our workshop. On that note, here is a sneak peek at memorable moments and exciting snippets from the event! Watch the video below:
