Q I feel my two-year-old daughter doesn’t drink the required amount of water. That gets me worried. How do I get her to drink enough? How much water does she need in a day? A Children are much more tuned to their bodily requirements than adults. They will automatically reach out for water when needed so there is no magic number as such. An approximate quantity could be 1.5 – 1.7 litres, but that can depend on the temperature, weight and activity level. If plain water doesn’t interest your child, encourage her to drink fruit infused water, lemon water, coconut water, buttermilk, water-rich foods like watermelon, muskmelon and cucumbers. Get her to drink water 30-45 minutes post her meal, not immediately.
