By Team ParentCircle
Summer vacations are not all about waking up late and slouching on the couch all day. A bit of fun in the sun is a must. What better way than summer activities to keep your children active and engaged during their summer break. So we, at ParentCircle decided to make the summer of 2019 in Chennai — fun, interesting and a great learning experience. And we did so, with a set of specially-curated activities for children across different age groups.
Looking for some fun ways to keep your kids engaged during this lockdown? Here is a unique kid’s activity book to help you out!
We started with a bang on 27 April 2019. A 6-hour long immersive Storytelling Through Puppet Making Workshop in association with Thinnai The Storytellers was definitely the right choice. Kids in the age group of 3 to 11 years attended this one-of-a-kind workshop with great enthusiasm. The sheer joy of learning to make their own puppets and weave magical stories using their creations was evident in the laughter and smiles of our mini puppeteers.
On 4 May 2019 a storytelling session, Tales from Here and There, was held by veteran storyteller, actor and author Ms Janaki Sabesh. It was an exhilarating storytelling session wherein kids got the chance to experience the lives of many interesting characters under one roof! Peels of laughter, sighs of relief and collective singing made the session even more enjoyable and memorable. Not only our little listeners, but even the parents had such a gala time. Children went back home with stories to tell and also learnt values from the stories that will hopefully remain with them forever.
The final event was a Calligraphy Workshop for beginners, facilitated by Master Penman Raju S Patil on 11 May 2019. Calligraphy is not only a beautiful handwriting style, but it is also an art. By learning this unique form of art, one can write your projects, presentations, memories and more, with a flair!
In the workshop, participants learnt the two basic styles of Calligraphy — Chancery Cursive and Copper Plate. It was a hands-on workshop with participants attentively listening to each instruction given and practising every stroke with great concentration and passion.
ParentCircle’s Summer Activities 2019 was filled with a lot of joy and learning and come 2020 we will be back with a bang with more activities and events just for you!
