Little things, little moments, they aren’t little. – John Kabat-Zinn
Children are charmingly unpredictable. If you nodded in agreement to that, we have one more surprise for you. You know that nothing will light up their faces, like surprising them with their favorite video game or giving them an hour of uninterrupted phone time, but what if it isn’t? What really puts a glowing smile on your little cherub’s face? We wondered the same and so, we at ParentCircle reached out to the little tykes, asking them to write to us about how they’d like to spend time with parents and what truly made them happy. Going the extra mile, we also asked them how they would like to spend time with their children someday.
We received adorable, heart-touching letters that struck a chord with each one of us that we simply had to share it with the world. Prepare to go aww with these tiny scribbles…
Kid Talk: How would you like to spend time with your parents?
Kid Talk: What would you do if you were a parent for a day?
These letters are an eye-opener to what children really want from parents – hugs, kisses, laughter, happy conversations and your time. Young boys wanting to be hands-on dads was an interesting take on how they want parents to be.
And what's more? Your children don’t just want you to cheer them on as they play, but they need you to join them in the fun and connect with them. They need you to understand them and lead them through their emotions, taking part in their life in every step of the way.
So now, what do you think matters most to your children? Of course, your time! And these heartfelt letters written by children were a lovely proof of that. So yes, it is the simple moments of 'connection' that make children feel valued, cherished and loved. So, give them plenty of these moments and your TIME!
In family relationships, LOVE is really spelled T-I-M-E. - Dieter F. Uchtdorf
